Getting The Maximum Cooling Efficienty From Your Refrigerator

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

How do you know if you are getting the maximum cooling efficiency from your refrigerator?  There is a simple test you can do yourself in few seconds. Take a dollar bill and close the refrigerator door on it. If you’ve got a good seal, you won’t be able to pull the bill out easily, if at all.  If the bill comes sliding out, then it’s time to get a new seal. Losing cool air makes your refrigerator work harder, and costs you more money.

What’s Up With GAS PRICES?

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Actually, I should say, “what’s up is the price of gas.”  Most of us woke up to the reality that what goes down, might come back up…and gas prices have.  A lot of Triangle-area drivers lined up at gas stations this morning, worried that Hurricane Ike might blow the Triangle’s $3.69 average gas price away for good.

Already, some stations were charging as much as $3.99 for a gallon of regular unleaded, though most stations were still charging between $3.60 and $3.80.  As it makes its way toward the Gulf Coast, Hurricane Ike already has forced the closure of several Gulf-area refineries and raised concerns about supply from that area to the Southeast.  Yesterday, The Pantry posted signs at its 1,600-plus gas stations in 11 Southeastern states asking customers to pump only 10 gallons of gas each.

If you’ve yet to fill up, as I did this morning, you may want to consider Costco.  I know my membership has paid for itself many times over is gas alone.  The price of regular gas as of 10:00 this morning was $3.519.  It’s going to be hot this weekend…yes, the temperatures are going up as fast as the price of gas.  You may find yourself in need of a quick getaway Saturday or Sunday.  This may be your last chance for a hot sunny weekend at the beach.  Have Fun!

Time To Remember

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

It is difficult to believe that so much time has passed since those evil attacks seven years ago.

Please take a moment to remember the 2,996 lives that were lost on that day and their families.

You are still in our hearts and in our prayers.

Real Mothers

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Real Mothers don’t eat quiche; they don’t have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough doesn’t come out of carpets.
Real Mothers don’t want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask ‘Why me? and get their answer when a little voice says,’Because I love you best.’
Real Mothers know that a child’s growth is not measured by height or years or grade…It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother…

The Images of Mother  . . .

4 YEARS OF AGE – My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE – My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE – My Mother doesn’t really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE – Naturally, Mother doesn’t know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE – Mother? She’s hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE – That old woman? She’s way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE – Well, she might know a little bit about it .
35 YEARS OF AGE – Before we decide, let’s get Mom’s opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE – Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE – Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

How To Win At The Game Of Life

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

You are invited to come and experience a new church in North Raleigh. Cross Culture Church and Pastor Clay Stevens will be beginning a new series “How To Win At The Game Of Life” on Sunday, September 7 at 10:00 AM at the Leesville Road Middle School, 8405 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613.   But keep in mind, we’re not your typical church.  Instead of religion, we’re about relationships.  Instead of rituals, we practice realness. We are interested in knowing and experiencing the God who created us.

Hope to see you Sunday.
